One of the reasons why i don’t use a digital camera is that it requires a cable to be connected to other devices. Now, With Eye-Fi, an SD memory card with a complete WiFi circuit, it is possible to make a camera connect to the Internet. Now, how cool is that!
How often haven’t you taken a picture of a group of people and wished that you could to share it instantly. The problem is that there is only you, that are holding the camera, that has it. There is normally a tedious work to get it from your camera to send a copy to your friends or to publish it of Facebook, Flickr, Picasa or other social networks. You have to bring the camera to a computer, connect it with a cable and perform a large number of actions in actions in order to get them were you want. Now, there seems to be a solution!
The California based company behind the Eye-Fi solution has managed to ad a complete WiFi circuit together with the standard storing capabilities in a normal SD card, with antenna and all. The storing capabilities is limited to a maximum of only 4 gigabytes but it is still mind blowing in its simplicity. You can store the login credentials for up to 32 different wireless networks in the card and after initial setup the card will automatically copy the images to you computer or send them directly to your favorite photo sharing application on the Internet.
The SD- cards cards is compatible with a large number of cameras and the software works on both Windows and Mac OS computers. Apparently there is an iPhone application available to.
